JOHN A. LABADIE

My current work focuses on traditional studio practices through which I take my investigations of geometric forms from pencil, to marker, to paper to digital to Internet, to installations, and into prints and e-publications.

As a former industrial engineer my creative perspective is filtered through a lens of mathematics and statistical modeling. As an artist I am traditionally trained in painting, photography and illustration. My art making processes most often involve various modes of digital studio practice that is seamlessly blended into or combined with traditional media.
In making creative work I often begin with scans of my drawings or with found objects -- either electronic or physical. Afterward studio processes evolve to move ideas into a variety of forms: installations, online works, animations, time-based works, large format prints, and mixed media works. Sharply focused imagery and experimentation with technical processes are constant factors in my work.
